What is the difference between pipe temperature and water temperature?

Sensors measure on the outside of the pipe. Tempivo shows two values:

• Pipe temperature: the raw probe reading on the pipe surface.
• Water temperature: calculated from the pipe and ambient readings using the pipe material, pipe size, and water type set on the asset.

Water temperature is the value to use for Legionella and compliance monitoring. Alert thresholds and reports are based on it.

If the calculated water temperature looks wrong, check pipe material and pipe size under Edit asset. Leaving them on Automatic works for most installations.
